Please spare 10 minutes of your time to watch this video if you haven't already seen it.
Word of warning though, you'll need tissues at the ready. I know I and many others did.

They're all heroes in my eyes.

Love to each and every single person serving in the forces.

60th Birthday Card

To go with the canvas below, I've made a card. I'm not one for making cards at the moment, so sat wondering what to do. Then I remembered that my crafting friend Sian loves making cards and she makes stunning ones too. A hop over to her blog for inspiration and I found this card which also uses Papertake Weekly's sketch #43. Loved how Sian had made her card, so I took some of the elements she'd used and made my card.

I used Basic Grey papers and numbers, Windy Day digital download form the Sugar and Spice collection available exclusively from Charmed Cards and Craft which I've mounted on foam pads, a piece of scrap lace, VersaMagic chalk inks in Jumbo Java and Hint of Pesto, wired leaves I was given by my friend Alison, a couple of wired buds that I've had for ages and a small piece of black organza ribbon.

Here's my card and a few close-ups (the white blob on the buds is glue that will dry clear overnight):

Altered Canvas

Two years ago, I altered a canvas for a family friend's 60th birthday. You can see it here. This week his wife turns 60, so I've done one for her too. I've been told that his sits in their living room for all to see, so I'm hoping that by using the colours I have this time, that they will sit alongside each other nicely. Must admit that I couldn't do it the colours I was going to, but I'm quite pleased with the result. And why couldn't I do it in the colours I'd first imagined? Because my friend Helen crochets (see her amazing website here where you can buy patterns and some are FREE) and in April I'd got an E and some flowers and a butterfly from here forgetting; until today, that the E was terracotta. The other flower is a PRIMA one, the lace was part of a crop kit and the tassel was from a local market. I used acrylic paint for the background, mixing browns and white for the background and white on bubble wrap to add texture and depth. Last of all, I added some tiny ANITA'S gems to the centres of some of the bubbles.

Anyway, enough rambling, here's the canvas and a couple of close-ups. I just hope she likes it.
I had to use some crocheting on it as I have a vivid memory of her sitting crocheting when I went there one day as a soon-to-be 12 year old. Turned out she was crocheting a shawl for Mum and Dad to give me as a present and didn't want to rouse suspicion by putting it away, so just carried on regardless. And I was none the wiser, but so pleased with it and wore it when I was taken to a restaurant for the first time on my birthday.

The Sunday Creative ~ Prompt 7

Madeline set us the task of doing something creative this week on The Sunday Creative with the word

and I'm about to make your mouth water as I've been baking today and made fruit buns (I always tell myself that by putting fruit into my baking, I'm getting at least one of my 5 a day!!).

Here's my photograph of the ingredients in their RAW, uncooked state

and then .....

I did warn you I was going to make your mouth water!! :)

Journalling in your own words ~ Goals and Practicing

Over on Elle's Studio Blog, she's just started running a free 3 week course titled

Sunday, she showed us all the amazing things that sponsors have offered to lucky crafters and today she's talking about goals and posts.

As I was leaving my comment, I read a comment by Melanie saying that she uses Oh Life to record her journalling. Oh Life say
"Every evening we'll e-mail you the question 'How did your day go?' Just reply with your entry"
and then it's saved to your profile on their website instantly. It really is that simple.

I signed up to this today and am going to try to list 5 things every day. I'm hoping that it'll be easier to journal on my scrap pages if I list things to do with any photographs as well as other things that have happened during the day.

Happy journalling!

New Blog

If you're a reader of my craft/ramblings, photo or on-line classes blogs, you've probably come here through links on those (must remember to go to those and link to here). If you're new to my blogs, welcome and I hope you like what you see and continue to visit.

You're probably wondering why the new blog? Well, I have decided to amalgamate all three of my blogs into one. I hope I haven't made a mistake in doing so, but if I have, I'll rectify it.

I have nothing to show you here, just wanted to welcome you all to my new place.

Love to you all, Sarah C xx
