Crafts 4 Eternity - Recipe #9

I'm moving before the end of April, so have done a digi card
ready to have printed here and then I'll write my new address and
details on the back or make them into a card. I'll also be replacing
the flower with one from my stash to give it more depth.

I've used the Followed My Heart free kit by Computer Scrapbook
with the lace from their Almost Silent kit.

The two girl digi stamps are from the Sugar and Spice collection by Lou and
available only from Charmed Cards and Crafts. I've made them sepia coloured.

Being A Tourist In Ely

I was lucky (if you can call it that as it was bitterly cold) to be in Ely this Wednesday hours
before my appointment at the Job Centre. Yep, appointment at 15:30 and I arrive at 10:30!

So, to pass some time away, I walked around the back of the shops
to the Cathedral, St Mary's Church and Oliver Cromwell's House.

Here's a few of the photos I took (and yep, as usual, I took quite a few).
So, if you're sitting comfortably, here's my pics of the day

Where would we be without these to guide us across the road?

Did someone lose a branch last December?

Here's me trying to do a close up shot

Oliver Cromwell's House, now the Tourist Information Centre

The old (red phone box) and the new (modern bus shelter)
sitting side by side in total harmony

Looks like the phone box has seen better days and lots of customers

Anyone of my UK friends remember when we paid 10p to make a call?

Just in case you're lost

St Mary's Church spire and clock

A sign that it's still winter

But spring is round the corner

My 'arty' shot of Ely Cathedral

Took me ages to get a decent photo as the ducks were moving quick

Down the barrel of a gun

I did this so that you don't have to.
Must keep my camera strap out of the way of the lens!

Anyone know why there were studs on this at the Cathedral?

Gorgeous architecture

More directions

Ok, so we have the beautiful Cathedral to the right and these bins to the left.
Lovely ..... not!! But a sign of modern times I'm afraid.

Last photo is of the Cathedral and the slit window look-out

Brave Girls

I've just watched last night's Biggest Loser final and something has clicked inside my head. I know I'm already losing weight steadily, but I also know that I'm not doing enough to help the weight go or doing enough exercise. My head was not in that space, but it now feels like it is. I hope I'm right as I need to do more exercise and be more careful about what, when and why I eat.

Once I'd finished watching the programme, I realised I had an e-mail from:

Brave Girls Club

(Click on the picture to sign up and get your Daily Truths)

It's as if someone knows what I was thinking and was such perfect timing as today's reads:

Dear Oh-So-Strong Girl,

You really are much stronger than you think you are.
Even those things in your life that feel like such a heavy weight...
They are making you stronger and stronger every day.
And the world needs more strong women.
Use your strength in places that bring you joy... usually that comes from helping others, teaching others what you know and remind yourself of all that is good and true when you are feeling weak.

You are such a gift.....keep being brave.

So, all I need to do is lose the 'heavy weight' from my body, keep strong
while I'm doing it. Keep helping and inspiring others that are fighting their own
weight battles and keep being brave knowing that I can and will get there.

When I do get there, you'll see new photos of me.

52Q ~ Q9 LO and journalling

Q 9 - What was the last brave thing I did?

I've put my journalling on my LO and it reads:

It's taken me years to come to terms with the fact that not only am I overweight,
but that I need support if I'm going to win the battle of the bulge. So, I braved it
and set up a blog which I set to invite only and invited a friend to be a reader.
Since then, I've invited another friend to read it. I've also told my Mum and my
youngest sister and am seeing a nurse at my doctor's surgery. So, now that
six of us know how much I weigh, there's no hiding from it. I've managed to lose
10lb since the end of November last year. I had lost more, but put it on and lost it
again. This is the start of the new braver me. The one who isn't afraid to stand up
and say "yes, I am overweight, but at least I'm finally tackling it".
I have more than this 60lb to lose, but I'm taking it one step at a time!

I've done my LO using a background paper from the Beach Day kit by Computer Scrapbook
and the title font is Type Keys Silver alphabet (which I've re-coloured) also by Computer Scrapbook

The ticker is taken from my weight loss blog and re-coloured to suit the lO

One thing I have to keep reminding myself, is that a few years ago I lost 35lb (2.5st) and kept it off.
So, the 10lb on my ticker, is only part of the real story. In total, I've lost 45lb (3st 3lb)

UKScrappers Weekly Challenge - February Week 4

This week's challenge was set by the Weaver's Cottage Girls
and we were challenged to:

use fabric or sewing - I gave my LO a double stitched border
use a technique a friend taught you - mind went blank, so no points there
use purple - I colourized most of my elements to purple

I've used elements from a free kit we were given on UKS by Dawn Inskip
together with elements from a variety of kits by Computer Scrapbook
