Shimelle's Starting Point - 20th August

Shimelle's giving us a 'Starting Point of the Week' starting today. You can see this week's starting point by clicking on her logo above. I've rotated Shimelle's starting point and then flipped it.

Here's my LO which uses freebies including ones from Katie Hadfield, MaryAnne and Peppermint Creative. The envelope was made by drawing a rectangle, adding the bottom of a shield as the flap and using shadows to give them depth. It's another

LO though. I've almost completed my album for my Mum. Once I've done all the LOs, I'll put them together (in order) on a post on here so that you can see what she'll be seeing after they're printed and the album's re-covered.

Shimelle's Sketch Of The Week (latest sketch) - 17th August 2011

Shimelle has continued to give us a challenge each day this week and here's my LO from this week's.

It's another of those

LOs too.

Shimelle's Cybercrop - 14th challenge

To continue her quest to make the week-end last longer, Shimelle made another video for Wednesday and this time she had us scrapping a 7x7 LO, then extending it on a 12x12 sheet. I think I sort of managed it. I have adapted several digi elements from various kits plus made a few of my own. The backing PP was a digi sheet of plain pink paper onto which I added the lines as I loved Shimelle's backing PP. Once again, this LO took several hours to complete. And it's another LO for which I ask that you

Was hoping to make Mum's album for her birthday, but I'm now making it for Christmas instead, so I'm afraid you have to be quiet for longer. Sorry about that. Here's the LO I made

UKScrappers Weekly Challenge and 52Q - Q33

This week's challenge was set by my old team The Ruby Snippers.

They challenged us to:
use black card stock - yes
a celebration theme - yes
something free - everything in the LO is from free kits by Daisy Trail

This week's question (#33) for

on UKScrappers is - What are you crossing your fingers for?

I've been out of work for longer than I care to admit and to be honest, it's really getting to me now. What I would dearly love is a job. Yes, being out of work enables me to sleep in when I want, to craft when I feel like it, to spend time with my family during the day, to chat on Facebook and UKScrappers, to watch TV and films when others are working, to eat when I want, to just do as I want. But being out of work also means that most days there is no structure to my day, I sleep during the day and find myself awake through the night, I have no structure, I have no purpose, I get bored, I get lonely, I get fed up, I have no money, I struggle paying bills and eating properly, I don't eat properly.

If I had a job, I know I wouldn't have as much time to be with my family, I know I wouldn't be able to be as involved in the chatting on Facebook and UKScrappers, I know I wouldn't be able to sleep in, I know I wouldn't be able to craft as much as I do, I know I wouldn't be able to eat whenever I wanted. I'm under no disillusions, but I really do want a job. Is it too much to ask for?

I've used kits by Daisy Trail again and this week's sketch by Creative Scrappers

Shimelle's Cybercrop - 13th challenge

No, you haven't read that dates wrong above. The week-end is officially over, but the lovely, darling Shimelle has continued the fun into this week. Not only that, but she's put together a video to show us how she put together a LO. After watching her video, our challenge was to use as many or few of her ideas on a LO of our own.

My LO used most of her ideas and positionings as I loved her LO loads. What I didn't bank on with doing mine digitally, was that it would take me all night to do it. I'll explain what I did in a bit, but this is another

LO as it's going in Mum's holiday album. Have a look at the LO, then I'll give you a run down of what I did.

Ok, so what did you see? Freehand cutting? My own made bingo cards (and yep, I made 2!)? Re-colouring? Erasing parts of the some of the butterflies? Changing the background butterflies into sand drawings to give them an embossed look? Painting a frame under the bingo card? Using a brush to add the edging to the large butterfly and also each individual spot on it? Anything else you can see I did? Framing? Using another frame as a stamp? Changing colour photos to B&W? Cropping Shading? Adding depth? Making my own flag (sort of thing)?

What you can't see is the amount of times I tried something and it wouldn't work (CTRL+Z is definitely my friend). The times my programme almost froze on me as I tried to save my ongoing work. The pain I'm still in from having bad cramp in both legs and the top of a foot just before I started working on my LO. Above all, what you probably can't see is the dedication of knowing that I was making another LO to go in Mum's album above all else.

Word Art Collection - it's all about ... #2

I have another Word Art set to give you today and this one is focused on travel.

You can see a LO using one of the Word Arts in the post below this one. I have paper pieced the word HOLIDAY in that LO too using a map of the area we went to.

(*Please note that your downloaded copy will be transparent and free of my copyright watermark)

You can download this collection FREE using the link in my left sidebar (under the 4shared logo). You can also download any others you would like. I'll do a new post on here each time I add to my account.

ALL Word Art's are PNG files which means that they have a transparent background enabling you to use your own backgrounds behind them and can be re-coloured using a computer programme. I often use Paint.net to re-colour which is free to download and use.

If there is anything you would like to see there, please don't hesitate to contact me and I'll do my best to include it in the future.

If you would like a custom made (one-off) Word Art solely for your own use, I am happy to discuss this with you. Once I have made your word art, I will send you a watermarked version and on receipt of £1 paid by PayPal (of which 100% will go to Cancer Research), I will send you an un-watermarked PNG.

Any questions, please contact me.

Shimelle's Cybercrop - 12th challenge

Challenge #12 - The signature accent challenge. What is my signature accent? What do I put on most if not all my LOs? After much thought and looking back at previous LOs, I realised I use flowers quite a bit, so I guess that's my signature accent at the moment. I've also; this week-end, been in receipt of a kit that had some gorgeous white lace in it, so am using that a bit too.

This is (I think) going to be the cover for Mum's album, so once again please

I've used one of my new Word Arts which will be available to you once I've finished the collection.
This one will be about journey's, holidays and such so totally themed (or that's the plan). Once again, I've paper pieced the last two words with a Googled map of Somerset. The H has Burnham-On-Sea across the middle as that's where we stayed and we toured the area from there.

Shimelle's Cybercrop - 11th challenge

Challenge 11 was The half page challenge. Could we create on only half a page? I've done my first no-photos LO of the week-end and plan on having it printed to frame and hang in my craft area of my spare room.

The Word Art on it, is my own creation and you can download it for free. It's part of the 'it's all about ... series #1' and the link is on the left of my blog. Just leave me a comment to let me know you've taken it and then let me know if you use it so that I can come and see your work too.

Anyhow, here's my LO. I've done some re-colouring and also used the plain backing paper to digitally paper piece the word ART. Cool idea don't you think? This idea will work with all the files in the current 'it's all about...' series and also those that I have planned for the future.

Shimelle's Cybercrop - 10th challenge

For challenge #10 - 3 is a magic number. Oh yes, indeed it is. We were encouraged to group together 3 embellishments which are the same, but different - 3 different chipboard shapes, 3 different flowers, 3 different buttons, you get the idea right? So, what did I do? First off, let me tell you I did it wrong. I grouped 3 of the same flower and used 2 different flourishes (duplicating 1 to give me 3), just re-coloured everything, but it wasn't right. So I changed 2 of the flowers for others and the duplicated flourish for a different one. 2 groups of 3 different embellishments and the job was done. I've also used 3 photos and the grid technique again from yesterday.

We're back to the album for Mum so once again, please (and thank you)

Shimelle's Cybercrop - 9th challenge

Let's go retro - scrap old photos. So, I did. I cropped a 6x4 photo and made it into a polaroid. Adding pieces of a Poptastic kit gave it a retro feel I reckon. Has this inspired you to dig out your old photos?
